For Real was an American R&B and soul quartet, that formed in 1993. In the latter part of that decade they were nominated for a Grammy, Billboard Music Award, and Soul Train Music Award.

Biography

For Real secured their recording contract by accident. "We were picking up our manager from the airport. So we decided to greet him with an acappella song. Someone from A&M records just happened to be in the airport and heard them perform. Not long after, they were signed," said Latanyia Baldwin.

The band released their debut album, ''It's a Natural Thang'', with production from Brian McKnight on A&M Records in 1994, and it became a critical success, including a rare four stars from Rolling Stone Magazine. Their first single, "You Don't Wanna Miss" hit #28 on the ''Billboard'' chart, courtesy of a danceable new jack swing remix by Steve "Silk" Hurley, which was featured in the song's video. A second single, "Easy To Love," peaked at #65 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. The album scored another chart hit with the a cappella love song, "You Don't Know Nothin'," which was written and produced by Mervyn Warren, and which peaked at #27. The song peaked at #54 in the UK Singles Chart in July 1995. The album sold over one million copies worldwide, and peaked at #80 on the Billboard 200.

In 1995, the band appeared in Italian ''Vogue'', modeling mens suits. They toured alongside Stevie Wonder, and lent their voices to the Martin Scorsese film project ''Grace of My Heart.'' The foursome also forayed into acting with appearances in the film ''Shake, Rattle and Rock!'' starring Renée Zellweger and Howie Mandel on ''Showtime''.

They also hit the US Top 20 with the single "Freedom (Theme from Panther)" featuring Aaliyah, TLC, En Vogue, BlackGirl, SWV, and Vanessa Williams from the movie ''Panther''. They also recorded a duet with Stevie Wonder called "Stubborn Kind Of Fellow", which appeared on the Marvin Gaye tribute album, ''Inner City Blues: The Music Of Marvin Gaye.'' For Real also recorded songs for the soundtracks of the films ''Waiting to Exhale'' and ''Fled'' respectively.

After a label change from A&M to Dallas Austin's Arista imprint Rowdy Records in 1996, For Real struck again with the Austin-produced, 60s-leaning single "Like I Do," from their second album ''Free''. "Like I Do" hit #10 on the Billboard singles chart, the video also earned a Billboard nomination for Best R&B Clip, the album made the Top 100, and nearly 400,000 copies in the US, the album's next and last single was the Diane Warren-penned pop ballad "The Saddest Song I Ever Heard" which hit #65 on the Top 100 singles chart. The band performed "Saddest Song" on the TV show All That. ''Free'' included production from top R&B/pop producers like Babyface, Mario Winans, and Jon B.

The band also recorded three songs ("I Do", "Born to Love That Boy" and "Unwanted Number") and appeared in the critically acclaimed film ''Grace of My Heart''. The films soundstrack won a Satellite Award in 1997.

In January 1997, the band won an American Music Award for their work on the ''Waiting to Exhale'' soundtrack, in Summer 1997, the group earned a Soul Train Award nomination for Album Of The Year (By A Group, Band Or Duo) for "Free".

In 1999, Wendi Williams lent her voice to the Emmy winning film ''Introducing Dorothy Dandridge'', with Halle Berry, in which Berry plays a singer but Williams is behind her singing voice.

In 2002, their song "Love Will Be Waiting At Home", appeared in the movie, ''Two Can Play That Game'', that starred Vivica A. Fox and Morris Chestnut.

In 2009, CoryLavel began to work with Josina Elder on her new album.

Indiana Rose Evans (born 27 July 1990) is an Australian actress best known for her role as Matilda Hunter in the soap opera ''Home and Away'' and as Isabella "Bella" Hartley in the children's show ''H2O: Just Add Water''.

Early life

Indiana Evans had an interest in performing since the age of five, when she would perform for family and friends. At the age of seven, Indiana's parents enrolled her into dance lessons, which started with ballet and then evolved to jazz and tap.

Before working on ''Home and Away'', Indiana Evans started high school at Newtown High School of the Performing Arts, but left after two weeks to focus on her acting career. She then took up a correspondence course until she turned 15.

Career

In 2003, Evans had a guest role as Milly Roberts in an episode of ''All Saints''. She then landed the principal role in an American campaign for Kool Aid. She also appeared in the Australian comedy sketch show ''Comedy Inc.'' The same year, she also had the role of Abby Oakley on the television series, ''Snobs''.

In 2004, as her part in ''Snobs'' ended, Evans was asked to audition for the role of Matilda Hunter in the series ''Home and Away'' and won the part. During her time at ''Home and Away'', she appeared occasionally as a guest on ''Girl TV'', a daily TV magazine show. In 2005, she was nominated for a Logie Award for "Most Popular New Female Talent" for playing the role of Matilda.

On 20 April 2008, it was incorrectly reported that Evans was denied a contract renewal from the producers of ''Home and Away'' by Australian newspaper ''The Daily Telegraph''. In the 3 May edition of magazine ''TV Week'', Evans stated to journalist Carolyn Stewart that the producers offered her a contract extension, however she "was ready to move on", and that the incorrect report was "surprising". She made her last appearance on the soap in July 2008.

Evans guest starred as China Williams in the Australian drama show ''The Strip'' in 2008. She also appeared in two short films, ''Burden'' and ''At the Tattooist''.

In 2009, Evans appeared as Kylie Watson in the television film ''A Model Daughter: The Killing of Caroline Byrne''. She then appeared in the role of Isabella 'Bella' Hartley for the third series of children's show ''H2O: Just Add Water'', taking the place of departing actress Claire Holt. In addition to her role, she also sang the theme song for the show, "No Ordinary Girl", as well as various other songs during the course of the series.

Evans starred in the feature film ''Arctic Blast'', released in 2010, playing the character Naomi Tate.

In 2011, Evans played Tatum Novak in the Australian legal drama ''Crownies'' on ABC-1.

In February 2012, it was announced that Evans had been signed to play the female lead television re-make of the 1980 film, ''The Blue Lagoon''.

Gary Indiana (real name, Gary Hoisington; born 1950) is an American writer, filmmaker, and visual artist. He teaches philosophy and literature at the New School in New York City. He divides his time between New York and Los Angeles.

Fiction

Gary Indiana's fiction is directly contemporary. He is perhaps best known for his loose trilogy of books based on notorious criminals in the media spotlight. While ''Three Month Fever'' is presented as an account of Andrew Cunanan, the man who murdered Gianni Versace, it uses fictional recreations of undocumented conversations and events to explore contemporary American obsession with celebrity and fame. More obviously a novel, ''Resentment'' seems nevertheless to be an account, or perhaps a speculative exploration, of the case of California brothers Lyle and Erik Menendez, convicted of the murder of their parents, though names and other details have been changed. Another fictionalization of real events can be found in ''Depraved Indifference'', in which Indiana makes use of the case of Sante and Kenneth Kimes, mother-and-son con artists convicted of murdering heiress Irene Silverman (though again, names and details are changed). Indiana uses these stories to explore sexuality, violence, money, the media, and the contemporary American scene—with a special focus, perhaps, on those aspects of it associated with postmodernity. These three novels share aspects of satire with much of the rest of Indiana's oeuvre, and features of postmodern literary practice are also employed to varying degrees.

Indiana has also based multiple novels on fictionalized events from his own life and those of his associates and contemporaries. ''Gone Tomorrow'', for example, mines his history as a film actor, particularly his work with German director Dieter Schidor and others in Rainer Werner Fassbinder's circle. Years later, Indiana returned to the raw material of his own life for ''Do Everything in the Dark'', in which characters from earlier novels such as ''Horse Crazy'' and ''Gone Tomorrow'' return in a later, more melancholic stage of life.

In 2009, New York-based independent publishers Two Dollar Radio published Indiana's most recent novel, ''The Shanghai Gesture''. (''The Shanghai Gesture'' is also the name of a 1941 film by Josef von Sternberg.)

Plays

Indiana wrote, directed, and acted in a dozen plays before he published his first novel in 1987. His collaborators were pulled from a distinctly avant-garde company of actors, artists, composers, and writers. Performers included Bill Rice, Cookie Mueller, Evan Lurie, Allen Frame, Warhol superstar Viva, and Taylor Mead.

Performed in small New York venues like the Mudd Club, Club 57, the Performing Garage, and Bill Rice's East 3rd Street studio, works included "Alligator Girls Go to College" (1979), "The Roman Polanski Story" (1981), and the very well regarded "Roy Cohn/Jack Smith", performed by Ron Vawter and filmed by Jill Godmilow.

Semiotext(e) has collected Indiana's scripts in ''Last Seen Entering the Biltmore: Plays, Short Fiction, Poems, 1975–2010''.

Non-fiction

Indiana's journalism has appeared in ''The Village Voice'', the ''Los Angeles Times Book Review'', ''New York Magazine'', the ''London Review of Books'', and ''BOMB Magazine'', among others.

In the early 1980s, Indiana established his name in art writing, despite having no formal education in art theory or practice. After writing several extended essays on, primarily, mid-century art for Art in America, Indiana joined the New York alternative weekly The Village Voice as art critic in 1985. This was a particularly influential position, given that the ''Voice'' was then one of only two New York newspapers that reviewed exhibitions still hanging. It was at the ''Voice'' that Indiana's journalistic style—an intelligent blend of dark wit, penetrative observation and uncompromising honesty—came into its own. Clear prose (notwithstanding a notable vocabulary) and a particular interest in the social and commercial context of art set his work apart from much art writing in the period. The excesses and political pressure of the booming 1980s art market led him to become unhappy in the position, however, and he left the paper in 1988.

He was largely to forgo art criticism during much of the following period, concentrating instead on his literary work—his primary interest. But he has subsequently returned to art writing as a contributor to Artforum and to catalogues and monographs of, among others, Barbara Kruger, Christopher Wool, Cameron Jamie, Roberto Juarez, and Nancy Chunn. Samples of his work for ''Art in America'', the ''Voice'' and ''Artforum'', among other publications from this period, have been collected in the anthology ''Let It Bleed: Essays 1985–1995''. A later collection, ''Utopia's Debris'', collects further critical pieces.

Today, Indiana writes on a wide variety of cultural phenomena, covering topics from art, literature and film to politics and the media. He has authored a study of Pier Paolo Pasolini's ''Salò'' for the British Film Institute; ''The Schwarzenegger Syndrome: Politics and Celebrity in the Age of Contempt'', an account of Arnold Schwarzenegger's election to the governorship of California and its broader cultural implications; and ''Andy Warhol and the Can That Sold the World'', Indiana's account of the iconic Andy Warhol exhibition of 1962, ''32 Soup Cans''.

For Faber and Faber, Indiana edited ''Living with the Animals'', an anthology in which various writers and artists explore human connections with animals.

Film

Between 1979 and the mid-1980s, Indiana acted in experimental films by Dieter Schidor, Ulrike Ottinger, and other European directors. His novel ''Gone Tomorrow'' reflects his experiences on the set, particularly his time working on Schidor's 1985 film, ''Cold in Columbia''.

Two films by Indiana have been in post-production for some time: ''Pariah'' (about Ulrike Meinhof) and ''Soap'' (based on the Francis Ponge poem).

Cariba Heine (born 1 October 1988) is an Australian actress and dancer. She is best known for her roles as Rikki Chadwick in the Network Ten show ''H₂O: Just Add Water'', Bridget Sanchez in ''Blue Water High'', and as Caroline Byrne in ''A Model Daughter: The Killing of Caroline Byrne''.

Biography

Heine was born in South Africa but moved to Australia in 1991 at the age of 3. Her mother is the owner of the dance school ''Legs''. Her early days included dancing at her mother's dance school in Canberra, where she later attended Telopea Park School and St Clare's College. She was the youngest dancer to perform at the Stargazers Convention in Sydney, Australia. She performed in many stage productions, including a tour in the United States, where she featured in a Will Young music video: Leave Right Now. She portrayed Caroline Byrne in "A Model Daughter: The Killing of Caroline Byrne" which was broadcast on Network Ten in Australia on 4 November 2009.
